Is Fantasy Brown a granite or a marble?
This is a question we get all the time. Fantasy Brown is sold under a few different names, most often Fantasy Brown granite, and sometimes marble or quartzite. Geologically, it is most accurately a dolomitic marble, a hard marble that is tougher than a classic Carrara but softer than a true granite or quartzite.
What does that mean for you day to day? It is a beautiful, durable natural stone, it needs maintenance and care like all natural stones. We seal it to guard against staining, and we recommend wiping up acidic spills like lemon juice or vinegar promptly. With that light attention, it holds up beautifully in a busy kitchen. We also recommend resealing every six months or as often as needed depending on how busy your kitchen is.
